The craftsman, that being in the process of extinction

We are artisans. We are those begings that still use our hands to create our art. We like to take care of the pieces down to the last detail. Make an effort to unravel the whole process until we manage to make that object that will finally be complete emerge from nothing.

The handcrafted process can take seconds, but typically takes hours. Miteculous works of srt hide old trades. Trades learned from parents to children or from teachers who bring together grear knowledge.

Bieng an artisan means a way of seeing the world; A way to show the world; and a way to feel the world.

Many years ago I decided to turn my life around and become an artisan, specifically a jeweler. The truth is that if I llok back I had already decided at the beginning of my days. From a very young age, my favorite pastime was creating with my hands (I played at making doll dresses, origami, making little ceramic boxes). And I have grown up making crafts one of my passions (I have attended all kinds of plastic creations: ceramics, silk paintinhg...) And about ten years ago I found the art that O like the most: jewelry.

Being an artisan is a pride and satisfaction for me. I enjoy every moment of the craft process, I enjoy creating the pieces and seeing them well finished; I enjoy when I sell them; I enjoy seeing when people like and value them; and above all I enjoy when I see the pieces put on other people.

But crafysmen are few. Nowadays, craftsmanship has ceased to be valued and we are in a moment of decline. Making a living from crafts is almost impossible. The value of the handmade piece is no longer at street level and there are fewer and fewer who give this value to our pieces. The public prefers to buy a piece made in chain or in China than a handmade piece.

I myself have combined two jobs for many years. The jeweler, craftswoman and another full-time to be able to make ends meet. In other words, he worked double shifts.

Nut being an artisan you learn. You learn to give value to things, to wisdom, to honesty. In the artisans exchange gestures abound (there are many artisans who come to the stall and offer you their knowledge or pieces in exchange for yours), gestures of camaraderie abound and also among the artisans we understand each other.

And the best of all is when you find yourself in front of thosempeople who know to value your pieces, and by this I do not mean that they buy from you, but rather that they know how to value them.

So let's celebrate for all those who value craftsmanship and artisans. And we convinced that a day will come when craftsmanship will resurface and be valued again. That is why we are not going to throw in the towel.
